V-num Architecture

V-num will accept all incoming messages via either a virtual number or a GSM modem application. The messages will be stored on the server to which client will connect to over IP and pull any messages waiting on the server. This prevents bottlenecks on the START server as well as processes incoming and outgoing messages a lot quicker.

V-num Platform

START's V-num is mobilized on a non-premium virtual number platform provided by the operator. A Virtual number can be accessed across all operators in India and internationally. A virtual number is capable of fulfilling all messaging needs of clients while offering security and reliability.

Virtual Number (Long Code)

This is the long code version of short code and also behaves very similar to the short code. A virtual number is synonymous to a standard mobile GSM number that is assigned to a subscriber. Virtual numbers are similar to applications using SIM cards inserted in GSM Modems. GSM Modems are highly unreliable and can handle only 10-20 messages per minute. A virtual number on the other hand is assigned to a dedicated message service center which enables it to handle up to 200 messages per second.

Features of V-num

  1. It is operator independent. All subscribers have access to this number since this a standard GSM number unlike a short code where operator dependency is key for it to be effective. Additionally the cost for sending a message to this number is standard SMS pricing hence it can be used for various non-premium services.

  2. A virtual number can be branded according to the company by using alpha-numeric character formats. These are similar to the 1-800 number services used in the United States here the number is masked by the name of the company for customers to remember the number easily. Similarly a virtual number will look like this if it was to be branded according to the company: 98XXXX4636 (98XX-X-INFO).V-num can configure as many virtual numbers as required offering scalability to the campaigns being executed on that number.
